Cheri Pennington, a trained SEN teacher who lives locally, understands the struggles many residents in and around Sandwich face. She is keen to see more done for locals, particularly young people. "We are fortunate to have a range of good schools here," she said, "and keeping families living in the town helps balance the spread of holiday lets."

Cheri helps run the annual 'Fun in the Park' event on behalf of Sandwich United Reformed Church, which attracts over 100 children. "Having children cooped up at home during the holidays can be difficult, especially for single parents, so somewhere for kids to let off steam is great - and it's free!". She is also concerned about the need to manage traffic and parking in the town.

Cheri lives in Woodnesborough, with her husband Martyn and two cats. Before retirement she worked on development aid, particularly in relation to women.
